Maruti Suzuki has now introduced driver airbag as an option across all variants of the Alto 800 and K10. The base variant of the Alto 800 STD (O) is priced at Rs 2.62 lakh and the Alto K10 Lxi (O) costs Rs 3.46 lakh.
Apart from the single airbag, the manufacturer has now also made the left outside rear view mirror available with this variant. Maruti Suzuki has taken a step ahead in bringing in different safety features across different models from their line-up. They have enhanced the safety equipment in the S-Cross and Baleno by offering dual airbags with ABS and EBD as standard across variants of the cars. This was followed by adding dual airbags and ABS with EBD in all variants of the Ciaz, Ertiga, Dzire, WagonR and the Celerio.
R S Kalsi, Executive Director, marketing and sales, Maruti Suzuki, said, "With driver airbag being offered from the base variant upward as an option for the Alto, a very large number of car customers in India will feel reassured. We have offered enhanced safety features, from the base variants, across our model range, ahead of regulations."
The Alto is Maruti Suzuki's entry-level hatchback that retails to more than 21,000 units per month. With the addition of a driver side airbag, the carmaker has upped the safety quotient of their highest selling hatchback. It is a really good initiative taken by the manufacturer itself before the government makes such safety equipment mandatory in cars.
